The "Kartontara" factory will be 100 years old in 1998. The enterprise became a joint-stock company in 1992. It specializes in manufacturing packages for the food industry, as well as jute sacks, lavatory paper, envelopes of various shapes and sizes, and assorted lumber. The company incorporates several industrial enterprises, including those in Astrakhan and Nizhni Novgorod. Such joint-stock companies as "Babayevskoye", "Rot Front", "Udarnitsa", "Bolshevik" and other major food industry enterprises are among the regular customers of KARTONTARA.
The company has a network of branches and subsidiaries which supply its products not only to Moscow and the Moscow Region but also to many other parts of Russia.
JSC "Kartontara" plans retooling the factory to produce colourful cartons and cardboard boxes. This will considerably increase the factory's output, its production facilities will be expanded, and new railway lines will be built.
