The Angarsk Petrochemicals Plant and Oil Refinery Design Institute, in East Siberia, now JSC "Angarskneftechimproject", was established as a branch of the "Giprogaztopprom" Design Institute in Moscow.
The East Siberian branch's reputation grew from year to year as it undertook to design increasingly complex projects.
By 1993, when the Institute was transformed to a joint-stock company, it had accumulated enormous experience in design and established strong links with domestic design and research institutions and leading foreign design firms.
The Institute's record includes major industrial projects and social facilities in cities across Russia and in other CIS countries, in particular, a kerosene pipeline from Angarsk to Irkutsk, several gas pipelines in Yakutia, a complex of EP-300 ethylene and propylene producing units, high-density propylene units, oil refineries, a VTUZ plant in Angarsk, and a workshop in Uzbekistan.
Today, the Institute relies on modern computers and duplicating equipment and its old high-class specialists in conducting investment and engineering feasibility studies, designing turnkey projects, following up on its projects upon completion, and carrying out many other projects at a level fitting our new age.
The Institute has won the status of a Leader in the Russian Economy and was awarded the Golden Eagle prize in 1998 and the Crystal Nike in 2000.
In 2002, the Industry Promotion Association (SPI), France, awarded an SPI Certificate and Gold Medal to the Institute.
