The companies which formed in 2000 the SIBUR-KHIMPROM petrochemical complex, the largest in the Western Urals, are well-known in the country's industry.

The OJSC "Stirol" (styrene), part of the Association, is Russia's leading producer of starting material for making high-quality rubber, polystyrene, sanpolymers and structural plastics.

The programme for retooling the enterprise provides for a staged increase in the output of styrene of the top grade from 40 to 110 thousand tons per annum.

In 1999 the plant added to its product range methyltributyl ester (a fuel additive permitting reducing harmful vehicle atmospheric emissions); its main user is the company "LUKOIL".

The OJSC "Plant of Butyl Alcohols", a second member of the holding, puts on the market 70 per cent of all Russian 2-ethylhexanol the bulk of which goes into production of diactylphthalate widely used in cable production and shoe-making.

The plant develops new chemical products, creates and markets products necessary for production of fuel oils and in the paint & varnish industry.

The OJSC "Perm Gas Processing Works" completely provided its partners in the holding with petrochemical starting material and delivers gas for household uses to many regions of Russia, to the CIS countries and farther abroad.

The company produces over 500 thousand tons of liquified gas and is the country's second largest gas producer. Its product range includes scores of other petrochemical items.

In October, 2000 the CJSC "Sibur-Khimprom" was a winner in the contest "Russia's Best Enterprises in the 21st Century".
