History of the Award

  On December 4, 2002, the renovated house of the Bolshoi Theater in Moscow was, for the first time after long inaction due to modernization, the scene of the Sixth Award Ceremony for the Russian National Prize, Business Olympus-DARIN, in business and enterprise for 2002.

The Business Olympus-DARIN National Prize was awarded in 23 nominations. As in previous years, the award ceremony was colorful and spectacular.

Awards were presented to Vladimir Potanin, President of the Interros Holding Company; Vladimir Bogdanov, General Director of Surgutneftegaz PLC; Alexander Zakharov, General Director of the Moscow Interbank Currency Exchange; Wimm-Bill-Dann Food Products PLC; Andrew Sommers, President of the American Chamber of Commerce in Russia, USA; and Herbert Stepic, Board Vice Chairman of Raiffeisen Central Bank, Austria, among many others.

On the same day, December 4, Russia's first president Boris Yeltsin was awarded, in his country residence in Barvikha, outside

Moscow, the Great Russia order, the highest award instituted by the Russian Business Academy, for his immense contribution to the rebirth and promotion of Russian business traditions.
